U16 Shield SE – 3 Jun 16- Match Report (Auth: Chris Leaver)
6 Jun 2016 by Darryl Flukes
It was a good start to the evening with the Tigers going downhill from the first bounce. Upon arrival it was good to see 2 supporters blowing vape clouds thicker than the flares against the Wanderers.
It was a fairly energetic double warm up with a lot of noise.
We started really well with our forwards Patty, Jaz, Nick and Flukesy putting on the pressure early to force a short corner within 5 minutes. A great slap across the face led to an amazing diving deflection from Cal. We continued to maintain possession and after 10 minutes they’d already parked the bus. With solid passing around the back from Jordy, Cal and Yeata, Powerhouse had as much chance as the Tiges. With another deflection goal from Jaz we went 2-0 up within 15 minutes.
With an unfortunate pass Powerhouse were able to get a quick breakaway putting it into the backboard. However, after this setback, the boys reacted quickly and Jaz was able to put another one into the back of the net. Halftime 3-1 up.
After half time Powerhouse continued to park the bus which was frustrating as we couldn’t get it through. Leon showed his frustration with an awful tackle against the kid from Haileybury which caused a green card. Confusion was met when I was forced to mark Cambo’s doppelganger from Powerhouse. After 51 minutes and 20-30 circle entries I found myself with the ball at the top of the circle. With a Jordy crab walk and an “absolute pearler” of a tomma into the bottom right we went 4-1 up. With 10 saves from the keeper we were unable to score again with the final score being 4-1.
We were dominant the whole game with Powerhouse having 1 circle entry compared to our 31 entries and 9 short corners.
